We know it’s been a while since we last wrote to you, largely because it seems like we’re stuck in a bit of a ‘Groundhog Day’ situation. Brexit is still ongoing, Trump is still tweeting, US/China trade wars still ongoing and our politics, with the introduction of Boris seem to be as disjointed as ever…. It’s not all bad news though, another thing that feels like a constant is the sunshine, we reflected on how sunny it was back in April and it seems the sun continues to shine for us all still.
The Blonde Bombshell
The new Prime Minister made a typically bombastic start. "The people who bet against Britain are going to lose their shirts because we are going to restore trust in our democracy, and we are going to fulfil the repeated promises of parliament to the people and come out of the EU on October 31, no ifs or buts." he said in his maiden speech. This was followed by one of the most brutal culls of senior government figures ever; as more than half the members of Cabinet were sacked or chose to resign before they were pushed.
Regardless of whether you love or hate his charismatic ways, I think we call agree that it will be a positive move if Boris can in fact deliver on his promise and the Brexit saga can become a thing of the past.
More New Beginnings
While the UK welcomes Boris, we sadly have to announce the departure of Andrina. We have already informed Andrina’s clients of the change and although this may come as a shock to those who have been a client of Quayside for some years and Andrina has become a familiar face to, it was no easy decision for her.
Andrina has worked in Financial Services for approximately 15 years and as many of you may have heard Alex say how highly qualified, she is, she too felt that her skills and strengths were not being tested as much as she would like them to be. We all wish her well in her new endeavours and that she is able to find a role to challenge her years of experience. Alex has also confirmed he can still bother her at home and on a more serious note, she is staying as part of the business to assist with specific technical queries and will remain a Partner of the business albeit not in the day to day working life of Quayside.
A Big Thank You
Even with all going on internally, most of Quayside has been 'business as usual' with some of this being attributed to some of the kind words and referrals from many of you, our clients. Whether that be assisting with a first home for one of your children, introducing us to a work colleague or family friend regarding their pensions, putting some protection in place for your fellow Directors or helping you with an Inheritance, we are always grateful that you continue to think of us and will of course continue to welcome future introductions.
As a reminder, we’re here to help with your financial planning or that of those near and dear to you from implementation of new advice or just to review what you already have in place:
- Pensions and Retirement Planning
- Investment Planning
- Corporate Cash Management*
- Protection and Insurance Planning
- Inheritance Tax Planning
- Business Profit Etraction
The Long Walk
Earlier this year with the support of the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation, we were able to facilitate an application for a grant of £4,908.00 for the addition of a respite group including up to 20 Young Carers and it was successful!! We’re looking forward to handing them a cheque later this month.
This isn’t where the fund-raising stops though. The Quayside team and some team members from Tayntons Solicitors, Griffiths Marshall Accountants and Sure Sales and Lettings Gloucester will be completing a 24 mile long walk from our offices in Gloucester to our Forest of Dean offices in Lydney. We don’t always like to ask and appreciate many of you have charities close to your own hearts however for those who can help, we’d love to raise some further funds for Gloucestershire Young Carers and for anyone involved in Charity, you’ll know every pound really does help.
If there is anything in this letter you would like to know more about or that has sparked your interest or triggered you to think about your own situation or someone important to you, please feel free to give the office a call on 01452 223822. (P.S - Sorry about the sunshine comment, we hope it’ll come back!)
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up with the payments on your mortgage.
The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.
*Please note that this service is via a referral and is separate to those offered by St. James’s Place.
